Friendly Game Against Singapore

On the 07/09/2017 we had the opportunity to play a Singaporean Floorball team from Nanyang Polytechnic (NYP), a TAFE-equivalent school located in the precinct of Yio Chu Kang in the town of Ang Mo Kio, Singapore.

Siraaj Ramadhan, a former Western Exports player in the Australian Floorball Open during his previous holidays in Australia, coaches NYP and coordinated the teams trip to Australia. This trip was completely self funded by each player to gain additional Floorball exposure.

“We have 9 sessions in total, 5 trainings at Revolution Sports and 4 friendly games against Roosters, Pirates, Wolves and Western Exports. During our free time we managed to cover places such as Caversham Wildlife Park, Fremantle Prison and Cottesloe Beach!” – Siraaj

For Wolves, this was a great development opportunity for previous season players and new players who had joined in the off-season, Jaxon McSwain coached 3 full lines with representation from all Divisions.

This was also our first time at Lumen Christi College. The venue is able to accommodate a full-size rink (20 x 40 metres) with plenty of space around the outside, a rarity in Australia. The court size was a surprise to all our new players who were training beforehand, having come from Cannington Leisureplex which has a small court suited for social games.

The Singaporean team played quite aggressive with a very high press, our defenders weren’t given much time and space to make decisions. In the end it was a 2-1 WIN (1-0 : 0-0 : 1-1) to Wolves after playing 3 x 20 minutes periods. Goals scored by Dylan Partridge and Cameron Creagh.
